Brief:
Full disclosure - I approached Screen Machine after learning the only mobile cinema serving Scotland's most remote areas, is on its last wheels.

From my granny of all people.
The Owners, Regional Screen Scotland, desperately need a safer, more suitable and more sustainable vehicle if residents of the Highlands and Islands are to continue seeing the latest blockbusters in this beloved community asset.

Trouble is, at a time when arts funding is being decimated, the Screen Machine sequel has a price tag of £1.6 million...

Response:
We needed a hook to flow throughout multiple different kinds of assets to encourage donations from rural residents, further afield and central government.

so Our thinking was, what's the one thing Scotland and Hollywood are both famous for?

using the power of parody, With a rousing voice over from national treasure Alan Cumming, and an impeccable soundtrack provided by local legends Tide Lines, our film took to the hills in an unforgettable way and with an urgent message... Save Our Screen Machine.

a message that was echoed in landing page copy, posters, badges and dm too.
results:
The campaign was picked up by The Scotsman, The herald, The National and STV Scotland.

It has raised over £50,000 so far (from a total budget of 2k) in public donations, and has also been hugely influential in securing multiple government grants to the point where we're almost over the line.
"your film is a triumph – the Cabinet Secretary for Culture guffawed very loudly at the Scottish Job bit.
Please accept our heartfelt thanks and pass them on to your colleagues for the exceptional work you have done on the film and the other assets.
At a parliamentary reception in a grand hall on Tuesday evening we outdid all the other exhibitors with our shiny film on a big screen – there is no way we could have done anything like this ourselves."
- Simon Drysdale, regional screen scotland Interim CEO
